"I've Got This Idea For..."

When someone says "I've got this idea for a script," I'd much rather hear the words "I've got this idea for a short story" instead. Because at least with a short story, it strikes me as a relatively solitary creation. If it's a shitty short story, there's only the writer and then the faceless journals and compilations it tries to infiltrate that are subjected to it. And maybe the author's friends and "colleagues" that are begged to read it and give feedback.

But when it concerns a script, I feel awkward because the writer is not only involving him/herself, he/she is involving the pre-production crew, the on-set crew, and then post crew. That writer is involving the actors and every dollar ever spent on the damn thing. That's just irresponsible. Unless it ends being good, in which case all the naysayers will have to eat shit and die.

This is the garbage I think about while driving alone on the 417 at 3am. Hypotheticals and rhetoricals. Alternate dimensions and "what if's." It wasn't instigated by any person in particular, so don't start thinking I've been lying to you or something.
